The International Research Organization for Advanced Science and Technology (IROAST), established from April, 2016 in Kumamoto University, Japan, is pleased to invite applications for tenure-track positions at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor for the enhancement and development of international research projects ongoing at the Graduate School of Science and Technology. The positions are available from August 1, 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointments at this rank are for 5-year terms. After qualification (see section IV), successful applicants will be promoted to tenure posts in the Graduate School of Science and Technology within 5 years. The four priority research areas are as follows: (1) Nano Material Science, (2) Green Energy, (3) Environmental Science and (4) Advanced Green Bio.
Program Outline
In cooperation with the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), this program provides funding for international joint research carried between excellent researchers in Japanese universities and institutes and their Swiss counterparts. In carrying out the joint projects, a synergistic effect is sought by such means as sharing resources and research facilities. This program also aims to enhance and expand training opportunities for young researchers.
Program Outline
To foster highly capable researchers with wide international perspectives, this fellowship gives excellent young Japanese researchers an opportunity to carry out long-term research at an overseas university or research institution.
Purpose
Awarded to excellent young researchers, these fellowships offer the fellows an opportunity to focus on a freely chosen research topic based on their own innovative ideas. Ultimately, the program works to foster and secure excellent researchers.

A postdoctoral position is available in the Nakamura Lab at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). The lab focuses on the molecular mechanism of obesity-induced metabolic diseases, especially type 2 diabetes, by focusing on RNA-protein network/signaling and its impact onmetabolism. The Nakamura Lab is located in the newly-built Clinical Sciences Pavilion at CCHMC where postdocs benefit from a modern open lab space with highly interactive colleagues and access to cutting-edge core facilities including gene editing technology.
Objective
The Nikkei Asia Prizes, which are awarded each year, are designed to recognize outstanding achievements that contribute to the region's sustainable development and to the creation of a better future for Asia.
The Japan-Affiliated Research Community Network (JARC-Net) is a database of researchers and experts who are interested in the research cooperation between Japan and other countries/areas. Researchers and experts registered in JARC-Net ("members") may sign into the system and search the profiles of other JARC-Net members. Thus JARC-Net provides you opportunity to find colleagues and new research partners, and to build and strengthen research networks.
Position summary: Research Center for Materials Science is seeking a tenure-track assistant professor “Jokyo” (non-PI [principal investigator] assistant professor) for the Laboratory of Biochemistry.
To advance science and technology within the Asia-Pacific and Africa region, it will be necessary to foster talented young researchers having wide perspectives that transcend individual disciplines and lofty values derived from the region’s inherent cultures.
To foster such researchers, HOPE Meetings have been organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science since 2008. The title “HOPE” signifies the promise held for young scientists and optimism for a bright science and technology future in the Asia-Pacific and Africa region.
HOPE Meetings give opportunities for excellent doctoral students and young researchers selected from countries/areas in the region to engage in interdisciplinary discussions with Nobel laureates and other distinguished scientists. Their programs include dialogue with distinguished scientists pioneering the frontiers of knowledge; exchanges among the participants themselves, who live under the same roof for one week; and cultural lectures and activities.
