Tenure track Group Leader position in MULTICELLULAR SYSTEMS

The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) invites applications for a tenure-track group leader position (assistant professor level) in Multicellular Systems. Research groups in this focal area investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms by which tissues, organs and organisms are formed, maintained or destabilized, to understand how healthy and pathological states develop and how tissues function and regenerate. We encourage applications from candidates with innovative research programs and particularly welcome applications from individuals using quantitative and interdisciplinary approaches.
The position includes a generous start-up package including core funding and access to state-of-the-art core facilities. The institute also provides a career mentoring program and assistance with research grant applications. Our vibrant, English-speaking scientific environment offers opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration with FMI research teams in our focal areas: Genome Regulation, Multicellular Systems and Neurobiology.

The FMI is a world-class biomedical research institute affiliated with the University of Basel and Novartis Biomedical Research. It has an international staff of around 330 people from over 40 countries, including 150 postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. Located in Basel, the third largest city in Switzerland, the FMI benefits from a vibrant cultural scene and a convenient situation on the borders with France and Germany. Basel is the leading European hub for life sciences with many opportunities in academia, as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The city is home to a diverse international population and has several multilingual schools.

At the FMI, diversity is central to innovation and collaboration. We foster an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute meaningfully, and welcome applicants of all genders, cultures, ethnicities, and demographics. We offer a family-friendly work environment and are responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.
